Celebration!

 

Priory Records have recently issued their fourth CD of Jonathan Willcocks’s choral music – featuring ‘The Song of Mary’ and ‘In Praise of Singing’, two works which have been greatly enjoyed by choirs and audiences alike. Also on this recording, which features the Cambridge chamber choir Vox Cantab, are a range of shorter pieces covering all seasons of the year.

Texts drawn from the Bible and poetry from the 16th and 19th centuries. Appropriate both for the Christmas season or for more general performance.   (24 mins)

In Praise of Singing

This vibrant work for SATB choir, Soprano and Baritone soloists and orchestra was commissioned by The Really Big Chorus, and first performed in the Royal Albert Hall. It is accessible to choirs of all sizes, and comes with alternative orchestrations of either full symphony orchestra or small ensemble of 11 instruments + organ (1,1,1,1; 1,0,0,0; timp/perc, stg 5tet + organ).
